Information About LIFE

LIFE is a national charity which provides a nationwide care service for pregnant women, unsupported mothers, women with problems relating to pregnancy, fertility or infertility, or suffering from the effects of abortion.

LIFE members are opposed to all direct abortion because human life begins at conception, i.e. fertilisation, and believe all human life should be equally protected by the law from conception to natural death.

Local LIFE groups provide LIFE's care service in particular areas. They offer free pregnancy testing, confidential counselling, practical help and accommodation for women who face a crisis pregnancy, have problems relating to human fertility or suffer from the effects of abortion. LIFE operates a telephone counselling Helpline (0800 9154600 9.00am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday, 9.00 am to 5.00pm Saturday, 10.00am to 4.00pm Bank Holidays). Personal confidential counselling can be arranged through this Helpline at the Y Centre in Guildford.

LIFE also produces leaflets, booklets, posters, slides, videos etc showing how human life develops from fertilisation, abortion methods, what the moral issues involved in abortion and artificial fertilisation are, what LIFE's care service offers and why. LIFE groups promote this educational work locally.

Specialist groups within LIFE include LIFE Anglicans, LIFE Doctors, Evangelicals for LIFE and LIFE Nurses.
